COP means co-efficient of performance or efficiency of the Ecodan. This is a measure of efficiency of the heat pump unit alone i.e. the outdoor part of the Ecodan heating system. It does not take into account the whole system incorporating that heat pump. Additional components will include ancillary pumps and hot water cylinder immersion heater.
This average COP measurement is specific to this actual Ecodan heat pump installation. The whole system efficiency is will be lower than this figure.
Many factors affect the performance of an Ecodan air source heat pump; and in turn the data displayed on this website. These figures should only be used as a guide to indicate how well an Ecodan air source heat pump can perform if the system incorporating that heat pump is designed, installed, commissioned and operated correctly.
Installation of an Ecodan air source heat pump as part of your home's domestic heating system may not achieve this optimal level of performance.
Performance will be affected by the level of home insulation and build type. Performance will be affected by system design including appropriate design selection of heating system components such as the hot water cylinder, thermal efficiency of radiators/pipework, the external physical location of the Ecodan heat pump and operational settings i.e. how you use the heating system.
All properties featured are real domestic homes. Some of the properties featured are occupied or have previously been occupied by Mitsubishi Electric employees and their families. We use remote telemetry systems to collect data from each featured home. Results featured here can occasionally be affected by external influences such as temporary loss of mobile phone signal at the property which can lead to temporary gaps in data collection.
Energy cost data shown is based upon the indicative costs per kWh of energy below. Ecodan energy cost data being the indicative cost of electricity. Actual costs are a market variable.
The actual cost of energy into each of these featured homes will differ but the actual kWh energy usage of the Ecodan heat pump unit in each home is correct based on our results data for the home. For every 1kWh of electricity fed into the Ecodan heat pump unit (i.e. the outdoor part of the Ecodan heating system) it is possible to get 1kWh x COP of heating energy before any whole system efficiency reduction.
